Setup Guide: Getting Grounded in 5 Minutes
Every Naturalive product sets up in under five minutes — no tools, no electrician, no electricity. Each product has its own guide: what's in the box, its steps, how to test it, how to care for it, and what to do if the pen doesn't light.

In Every Box
Each grounding product ships with a Safety Grounding Cord (with a built-in 100k Ohm safety resistor), a Safety Adapter for local three-pin sockets, and a Conductivity Tester Pen — everything needed to connect on day one and check the product any time after.
Fitted Grounding Bed Sheet
- Fit the sheet. Remove your standard fitted sheet. Place the Naturalive Fitted Grounding Bed Sheet over your mattress, pulling the elastic corners under the mattress for a snug fit. Locate the metal connection button (usually near a corner).
- Snap the cord. Snap the Safety Grounding Cord onto the metal button on your sheet.
- Connect to the adapter. Attach the other end of the cord to the Safety Adapter, and plug it into the earth point of your wall socket. No need to switch the socket on — the earth point works regardless.
- Sleep on it. Direct bare-skin contact (legs, arms, or back) gives the best grounding connection.
Grounding Flat Sheet
- Lay the sheet. Place it over your regular bottom sheet — horizontally (ideal for bare feet and legs) or vertically along your side of the bed — and tuck the ends under the mattress. Locate the metal connection stud.
- Snap the cord onto the metal button.
- Connect to the adapter and plug into the earth point of your socket.
- Sleep with skin contact — feet, legs, or back on the sheet.
Grounding Pillowcase
- Slide your pillow in. The side with the metal connection stud faces outward, where you rest your head.
- Snap the cord onto the button.
- Connect to the adapter and plug in. Your face and neck make the contact while you sleep.
Grounding Mats, Yoga Mat & Mattress Topper
- Place it. Mat: under your bare feet at a desk, or anywhere you sit or stretch. Yoga mat: unroll as usual. Topper: strap it over your mattress with the elastic straps, under or in place of a thin natural-fibre sheet.
- Snap the Safety Grounding Cord onto the metal stud.
- Connect to the adapter and plug into the earth point.
- Make skin contact — bare feet, hands, or body on the surface.

How do I know it's working? Two checks, and what each proves
A grounding product grounds you only if two things are true at once: the socket's earth is live, and the product's conductive material conducts. Each check proves exactly one, and cannot see the other.
- The socket — is the earth there? Plug a socket tester into the wall socket and match its lights to the printed legend. The correct-wiring pattern means the earth pin is live. If it shows a fault, don’t use that socket — try another, or WhatsApp us a photo. Once per socket is enough.
- The product — does it conduct? Rest both tips of the conductivity pen on the conductive material. On a mat, yoga mat or topper, the whole surface conducts — anywhere works. On a sheet or pillowcase, only the fine silver thread lines woven through the cotton conduct: both tips must sit directly on a silver line, and the plain cotton between the lines stays dark, which is normal. It lights when the material conducts. On fabric, a dark pen usually means the tips aren’t on a line; dark on a line means the silver is coated — see the care rules below. The pen can’t see the socket.
- Both together — a live earth at the wall, a conducting product snapped and plugged into it — is a grounded setup. Repeat the pen test monthly and after any new detergent or cleaner.
Want proof on your own body? That takes a multimeter on AC volts: one probe to the earth through the adapter, one in your hand. Note the reading, then touch the connected product with bare skin — it falls toward zero. That drop is grounding, measured. It’s what we show on our Lives, and it’s the definitive test for anyone who wants it. Full guides: Tester Kit · Tester Pen · Continuity Tester. Need the kit? Grounding Tester Kit.
Grounding Rod
The rod connects your product directly to the soil instead of the wall socket — for homes where a socket’s earth can’t be verified, or for balconies and gardens.
- Push the rod fully into damp soil outdoors — a garden bed or a planter filled with real earth, not potting foam. Dry soil conducts poorly, so keep it moist.
- Connect the rod’s lead to your product’s cord in place of the adapter.
- Check it — the pen for the product, a multimeter for the earth. Route the lead where it won’t be pulled or trapped in a window frame.
The Golden Rules of Care
Frequent washing (every 1–2 weeks) is required for fabric products — it removes body oils and sweat that tarnish the conductive silver threads.
- Machine wash warm (up to 40 °C) or cool — never hot — with a mild liquid detergent, completely free of softeners, bleach, fragrances, essential oils and dyes.
- Line dry, or tumble dry on low heat.
- Never: fabric softeners or dryer sheets (waxy, insulating residue) · bleach or chlorine (rapidly oxidises the silver) · optical brighteners or oxy-style whiteners · fragrances or essential oils, synthetic or natural.
- Apply body lotions or oils at least one hour before bed — unabsorbed oils build up on the fabric and tarnish the silver threads.
Wiped-clean products (mats, topper) just need a damp cloth. Check the product every month with the tester pen in your box — it’s the surest way to catch a washing mistake before you conclude the product has stopped working.
Safety & Common Questions
Does the grounding sheet use electricity?
No. Your grounding sheet does not run on electricity and never touches live current. It connects only to the Earth port in your wall socket — essentially an extension cord to the earth outside. You don’t even need to switch the wall socket on.
Will I get electrocuted if there is a power surge?
No. The Safety Grounding Cord has a built-in 100k Ohm safety resistor. In the highly unlikely event of a power surge or electrical fault, the resistor immediately restricts current to a completely safe, imperceptible level.
Can I wear pyjamas while sleeping on the grounding sheet?
Direct bare-skin contact is highly recommended. Thin 100% natural-fibre sleepwear (like cotton) may allow a partial effect over time through body moisture, but synthetics (polyester, fleece) will insulate you and block the connection entirely.
I don’t feel anything — is it working?
Not feeling a sensation is completely normal and doesn’t mean the product is defective. The sheet’s job is simply to provide a conductive path between your body and the Earth. Some people feel a slight tingle initially; grounding is a subtle, natural process. The two checks above tell you the setup is right; a multimeter shows it on your body. Naturalive products are designed for general wellness and are not medical devices — they are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, and individual experiences vary.
Can I use an electric blanket or heated mattress pad?
Yes — but the grounding sheet must be the top layer you sleep directly on. Place the electric blanket or heated pad underneath it so your skin touches the silver threads.
