How do I set up the Grounding Yoga Mat?

1. Unroll it within reach of a wall socket, conductive side up. Don't stretch the cord across a doorway.
2. Snap the cord onto the metal stud at the mat's edge until it clicks.
3. Plug in. Cord into the Safety Adapter, adapter into the wall socket. Only the earth pin makes contact; the socket doesn't need to be switched on.
4. Practise barefoot. Feet, palms, back — any bare skin on the mat is grounded for as long as it's touching. Leggings insulate the parts they cover, which is fine; the feet do most of the work. If you practise in socks, thin natural-fibre ones conduct once lightly damp from the skin's natural moisture; synthetics don't.

How do I check it's working?

Two checks, each proving one half.

1. The socket — is the earth there? Plug a socket tester (in the Tester Kit) into the wall socket and match its lights to the printed legend. The correct-wiring pattern means the earth pin is live. Only this check proves the earth. Once per socket.
2. The mat — does it conduct? Touch the tester pen to the surface. It lights: the surface conducts. Only this check proves the mat. Once at setup is enough — a mat doesn't need a testing schedule.
3. Both together — live earth at the wall, conducting mat snapped and plugged into it — is a grounded mat.

Want proof on your own body? A multimeter on AC volts: one probe to the earth through the adapter, one in your hand. Note the reading, then stand barefoot on the connected mat — the number falls toward zero. That drop is grounding, measured; message us and we'll walk you through it.

How do I clean the yoga mat?

A damp cloth after each session, then air dry. That's all. Never the washing machine, and never soak it. Roll it rather than folding it, and store it out of direct sun. Body lotion can leave a film — apply it at least an hour before practice, or wipe the mat after.

What if the pen doesn't light?

A dark pen means the surface isn't conducting where you touched it.

1. The surface. Wipe with a damp cloth to remove any sweat, lotion or dust film, dry, test again.
2. The stud. Touch the pen to the metal stud. Lit there but not on the surface means a film on the surface — back to step 1.
3. The pen. If it lights on nothing, not even the stud, message us; we'll replace it.

What if the socket tester shows a fault?

Use another socket. If every socket fails, send us a photo; a grounding rod is the usual answer. If both checks pass and you still doubt the link between them, reseat the snap and the adapter; a continuity tester checks the whole chain.

Frequently asked questions

Does the pen prove I'm grounded?

No. It proves the mat's surface conducts. The socket tester proves the earth is present at the wall. Together they're the practical proof; a multimeter reading of your body voltage dropping is the definitive one.

Does grounding work through a normal rubber yoga mat?

No — rubber insulates. That's why this mat has a conductive surface connected to the earth pin.

Can I use it in a studio?

Yes, if there's a 3-pin socket within reach and the studio is happy for you to use it. The mat draws no power.

Is it safe to plug into a socket?

Yes. The cord uses only the earth pin and carries a 100 kΩ resistor. No household current reaches the mat.
