How do I set up the grounding pillowcase?

1. Slide the pillow in. The side with the metal stud faces outward, where your head rests. No pillow protector on top — the pillowcase must be the layer your skin touches.
2. Snap the cord onto the stud until it clicks. Route the cord off the side of the bed so it doesn't pull.
3. Plug in. Cord into the Safety Adapter, adapter into the wall socket. Only the earth pin makes contact; the socket doesn't need to be on.
4. Sleep on it. Face, cheek and neck make the contact, spanning many silver lines at once. For two pillows, use two pillowcases; each needs its own cord.

How do I check it's working?

Two checks, each proving one half.

1. The socket — is the earth there? Plug a socket tester (in the Tester Kit) into the wall socket and match its lights to the printed legend. Only this check proves the earth. Once per socket.
2. The pillowcase — does the silver conduct? The silver runs through the cotton as a fine grid of thread lines. The pen lights only when both tips rest directly on a silver line; on the plain cotton between it stays dark, and that's normal. Find a line, lay both tips along it, hold still: it lights, the silver conducts. Monthly, and after any new detergent or skincare product.
3. Both together — live earth at the wall, conducting pillowcase snapped and plugged into it — is a grounded pillow.

Want proof on your own body? A multimeter on AC volts: one probe to the earth through the adapter, one in your hand. Note the reading, then rest your cheek on the connected pillowcase — the number falls toward zero. That drop is grounding, measured; message us and we'll walk you through it.

How do I wash it?

A pillowcase meets skincare every night, so it needs washing weekly — more often than a sheet.

• Machine-wash warm (up to 40 °C) or cool — never hot.
• Plain liquid detergent, free of softener, bleach, fragrance, essential oils, optical brighteners and dyes.
• Line-dry or tumble low. No dryer sheets.
• Night creams, serums and hair oils at least an hour before bed; oil-based products coat silver fastest of all.

What if the pen doesn't light?

1. Are both tips on a silver line? The reason nine times out of ten. Find a visible silver thread, align both tips along it, hold still a second.
2. The wash and the skincare. Still dark on a line? Check both for the four. Wash twice in plain detergent, dry, test on a line again.
3. The stud. Touch the pen to the metal stud. Lit there but not on any line means the threads are coated — back to step 2.
4. The pen. If it lights on nothing, not even the stud, message us; we'll replace it.

What if the socket tester shows a fault?

Use another socket. If every socket fails, send us a photo; a grounding rod is the usual answer. If both checks pass and you still doubt the link between them, reseat the snap and the adapter; a continuity tester checks the whole chain.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the pen only light in some spots?

Because only the silver thread lines conduct; the cotton between them doesn't. The pen needs both tips on a line. Your face doesn't have that problem — a cheek on the pillowcase spans many lines at once.

Does the pen prove I'm grounded?

No. It proves the silver conducts. The socket tester proves the earth is present at the wall. Together they're the practical proof; a multimeter reading of your body voltage dropping is the definitive one.

Is a pillowcase enough, or do I need a sheet?

The pillowcase is the cheapest honest way to try grounding, and face-and-neck contact all night is real contact. A sheet gives far more skin area. Many start with the pillowcase and add a sheet later.

Can I use a pillow protector?

Under the pillowcase, yes. Over it, no — nothing can sit between your skin and the weave.
