Leather Grounding Mattress Topper — Setup & Care Guide
Quick answer: Strap the topper over your mattress with its elastic straps, conductive side up, snap the cord onto its metal button, plug the adapter into the earth pin, and sleep with bare skin — or a thin cotton sheet — on the surface. Two checks prove it: a socket tester confirms the outlet has a live earth; the tester pen confirms the topper's surface conducts. Wipe clean; never wash it.

What's in the box?
- Leather Grounding Mattress Topper — conductive carbon-infused vegan leather surface, elastic corner straps
- Safety Grounding Cord — 4.5 m, with a built-in 100 kΩ resistor
- Safety Adapter — for local 3-pin sockets, earth pin only
- Conductivity Tester Pen — confirms the topper's surface conducts
How do I set up the mattress topper?
- Check the socket's earth once, with a socket tester. The correct-wiring pattern on its lights means the earth pin is live.
- Strap it on. Lay the topper across the part of the bed you sleep on, conductive side up, and hook the elastic straps under the mattress corners.
- Snap the cord onto the metal button at the topper's edge until it clicks.
- Plug in. Cord into the Safety Adapter, adapter into the wall socket. Only the earth pin makes contact; the socket doesn't need to be on.
- Lie down. Bare skin on the surface gives the strongest connection. A thin natural-fibre sheet over it — cotton — conducts once lightly damp from the skin's natural moisture; thick sheets and synthetics block it.

How do I check it's working?
Two checks, each proving one half.
- The socket — is the earth there? Step 1 above, with a socket tester (in the Tester Kit). Only this check proves the earth; the pen can't see it.
- The topper — does it conduct? Touch the tester pen to the surface. It lights: the surface conducts. Only this check proves the topper. Once at setup is enough — the topper doesn't need a testing schedule.
- Both together — live earth at the wall, conducting topper snapped and plugged into it — is a grounded bed.
Want proof on your own body? A multimeter on AC volts: one probe to the earth through the adapter, one in your hand. Note the reading, then lie on the connected topper — the number falls toward zero. That drop is grounding, measured; message us and we'll walk you through it.
How do I clean the topper?
A damp cloth, then air dry. That's all. Never the washing machine, and never soak it. Body lotion can leave a film — apply it at least an hour before bed, or wipe the surface in the morning. A thin cotton sheet over the topper keeps it cleaner and goes in the wash as normal.
What if the pen doesn't light?
A dark pen means the surface isn't conducting where you touched it.
- The surface. Wipe with a damp cloth to remove any lotion or dust film, dry, test again.
- The button. Touch the pen to the metal button. Lit there but not on the surface means a film on the surface — back to step 1.
- The pen. If it lights on nothing, not even the button, message us; we'll replace it.
What if the socket tester shows a fault?
Use another socket. If every socket fails, send us a photo; a grounding rod is the usual answer. If both checks pass and you still doubt the link between them, reseat the snap and the adapter; a continuity tester checks the whole chain.
Thunderstorms: when thunder is close, unplug the cord until the storm passes — about an hour after the last thunder — the way you might a laptop, then plug back in. Why, and why it's a habit rather than a worry, in our FAQ.

Frequently asked questions
Does the pen prove I'm grounded?
No. It proves the topper's surface conducts. The socket tester proves the earth is present at the wall. Together they're the practical proof; a multimeter reading of your body voltage dropping is the definitive one.
Do I sleep directly on the topper?
You can — bare skin gives the strongest connection. A thin cotton sheet over it conducts once lightly damp from the skin's natural moisture. Avoid thick, fleece or synthetic layers.
Does it fit my bed size?
The topper is 185 × 68 cm — one sleeper's width — and straps across any mattress from Single to King. For two sleepers, use one each.
Can I use it with an electric blanket?
Yes, with the blanket underneath the topper, so your skin touches the conductive surface.
